If after a couple of HUCA's they cannot move the date, then I would attempt to have them drop the segment. This may actually help if the HND-BKK segment is the married restricted one and the ORD-HND is not restricted (which is normally the case for JAL married segments. I don't think I have seen a USA-TYO segment married restricted). Once you drop the married restricted segment you then should have no trouble adding another segment after a stopover (so long as that segment shows individual availability.
Update to this -- I successfully had them locate space for just HND-BKK, but they said it'd be re-priced at 35,000 miles per person as it's now 100k (not 85k) to go Chicago - Southeast Asia on miles. I was aware of that but hoped I wouldn't be charged extra. I declined the change. Oh well!
