For convective and tropical weather, you don't use end result to negate the need to prepare. You evacuate on a 5-20% chance of getting hit. Everyone should've gased up and stocked up (but not all at Costco), You don't criticize when apocalypse didn't happen where you are 80-95% of the time.
Or planning ahead - sometimes things go south very very quickly like with firestorms or debris mudflows in and around hillsides across California. But guess being prepared isn't important to some.
