So initially I booked HAM-AMS (Eco) -> AMS-DTW (Premium) -> DTW-LAS (Eco). On the flight day there was some flight changes by Delta and I changed to a different flight HAM-AMS-LAS and I was rebooked to Eco for the AMS-LAS leg. I talked with the agent at the Lounge in AMS and they corrected my AMS-LAS leg to be Premium seat as I originally booked.
Now after the flights, I got only 17 XP, which are 5 XP from the HAM-AMS and 12 XP from the AMS-LAS leg. I called them and they said indeed there are some missing XP's and after submitting an email, I got only 8 XP extra.
I called them again and since AMS-LAS is Long 3, its still missing 4 XP, but now they are saying the XP calculation is based on original flights, but still with that calculation I am then missing the 2 XP's from my original DTW-LAS leg.
I am a bit confused now and wanted to know how much XP's am I entitled to?
Your calculation is correct, if they’re crediting the original itinerary then you should get 27 XP and you’re therefore missing 2 from DTW-LAS.
However I’ve only ever been in the opposite scenario, where the rebooked itinerary would earn less than the original and I would claim original routing credit — in your case, it’s the other way around, and I wonder if there’s room for getting the new itinerary credited (29 XP). It’s only 2 extra but why not. I have no data points to support whether this scenario makes sense / is feasible.
