Studies show averages and probabilities not rules that apply to every flight. Experience has shown that booking close to the end of the booking window can offer extraordinary deals, those extraordinary deals are part of the averages and probabilities

I just booked an AA longhaul haul and an AS L48-FAI near the end of the booking window for prices lower than I have seen in the last ten years. Of course the previous three flights I have tried to book I haven't booked yet, even though my travel will be sooner than the trips I did book because nothing good has been offered.
