I just made an asiamiles redemption for seats on BA from YVR to FLR in business class. To my surprise, whether or not they hold your seats while your points are in transit from CC is highly dependent on the agent you get. So don't get discouraged and keep calling. I was able to hold the partner redemption for a full week despite only having abour 15 percent of the points in the account I actually needed.
