The reason to book this far out is good deals. If you know your plans that far out there is no reason not to book that far out to get a good fare. Of course in this particular, with no good fare, it doesn't make sense.
Booking that far ahead works more often for long haul, but occasionally works for domestic and short haul international, especially for peak days, so no harm in looking. Since changes are free there is no risk of loosing a better deal that is offered latter of you keep tracking it..
