Ryokan: Fufu Nikko
Thanks to this thread we decided to stay at Wanosato and Fufu Nikko during our 24 days holiday in Japan, thank you K1NRT !
Stay: 10-13 august 2023 @ Fufu Nikko
Rooms: 2 stylish suites , we were travelling with kids
Rating: ★★★★★

My recent stay at the Fufu Nikko was an unforgettable experience that exceeded expectations. From the moment I stepped through the doors, I was greeted with exceptional service and a welcoming atmosphere.

From booking till check-in: the hotel was non responsive to any emails which made me a bit worried but all was solved once we were there, it was quickly clear that they just didn’t have any English speaking staff. At the hotel this is easily solved with Google translator or a handheld device that translates.

Check-In: The check-in process was seamless and pleasant. The hotel staff assigned us a seat in their lounge and gave us a welcome drink while they took care of the formalities. They were not only professional but also incredibly friendly, making us feel right at home.

Room: The stylish suites at Fufu Nikko are a perfect blend of modern luxury and traditional Japanese design. The rooms are very large , have a nice bedroom with 2 top notch large beds, an extremely beautiful living room with a large sofa and a beautiful and large bathroom with a large private hot tub with beautiful view and a seperate toilet, the amenities and furnishings were top-notch. The comfortable bed and serene ambiance made for restful nights. This is their basic room and I see no need to have any larger than this. Only downside is that they don’t offer connecting rooms or 2-bedroom suites.

Service: The staff at Fufu Nikko deserves special recognition for their impeccable service. They anticipated my needs and were always ready to assist, whether it was arranging transportation, providing local recommendations, or catering to special requests. Their attention to detail made our stay truly exceptional. Note that the hotel was fully booked during our stay.

Location: Fufu Nikko location was perfect for exploring the beauty of Nikko. It was within walking distance of several iconic temples, the botanical garden and the imperial villa and cultural landmarks, allowing us to conveniently discover Nikko and surroundings.

food: The Kaiseki dinner is ok. The Tepanyaki dinner is very good , the western breakfast is dissapointing and the Japanese breakfast is acceptable. All is less than what we had at Wanosato but still good, considering it’s all included. The free cocktail hour with free champagne or cocktails and snacks is a plus.

The shared hot tubs are really amazing, I enjoyed especially the exterior hot tub. As every room has its own hot tub the shared pools are mostly empty.

We were the only foreigners during the 3 days that we were staying there which is a big plus for me. In summary,I wholeheartedly recommend Fufu Nikko and when we return to Japan we will most certainly stay in other Fufu properties.
