Booked an itinerary through the AA website the other day. It was in €. For some reason it wouldn't let me place the booking on hold and then pay over the phone, however when I paid I noticed that it wasn't ticketed. Turns out they were having a problem with their international payments, which actually suited me very well, as I phoned AA up and said I'll pay for the booking in GBP (saving me the 2.99% Amex want for foreign transactions). Agent said the other payment would be cancelled and wouldn't go through.

Lo and behold, AA have charged me twice now. (I was sort of expecting it to happen). They're going to refund the charge in €. My question is, will the foreign transaction fee be refunded by Amex? I don't think I've ever had a transaction in a foreign currency that I've needed a refund for.
