Regarding a second reservation for aisle, are you saying one can cancel same day with National without cost?
I prefer sedans to SUVs for the most part. Some of those you listed in the aisle sound great.

Regardless, I'll post what happens when I get back.
I'm fairly certain you can cancel same day with any of the major companies with no issue. Others here might have more insight into that but I have seen the double booking suggestion a lot.

Being that it's for your work, it'll depend on your employer's specific policy. I know with mine I can usually only have one open reservation at a time without a supervisor overide (If I was renting and dropping off at one airport then flying and picking up at another etc.)

But, hey if they are picking up the luxury tab you can always roll with it and hopefully it's something really nice. A lot of the cars/SUVs I mentioned are actually only full size elite/elite suv (I always forget what the official class designations are.) Luxury is a whole other class I'm pretty sure.

Anywho, I hope they hook you up with something nice. If you're not satisfied with what's offered it never hurts to just ask what your options are beyond that. 🤷
