Watch out when booking with Avis. I made a reservation, not prepaid, but the system marked it as prepaid anyway (using the more expensive normal rate) and immediately charged my credit card. I'm very careful when making booking whether they be air, hotel or rent a car so I caught it when I read the terms an conditions. Not nice Avis. But it gets worse. Even though I immediately cancelled the booking and made a new one over the phone Avis charged a $50 cancellation fee. That's a big no, no since Avis T&C allows a 24 hours prior to any cancellation penalty.

Avis had no apologies. While I find it hard to believe this is deliberate given how their computers are programmed I'd suggest anyone using the website check their confirmations and credit card bills carefully.
