UA will interline *A flights but arrive at least an extra 15 min early to give the check-in agent time to sort it out. Then you can use the Polaris lounge.
Thanks for the feedback -- I'm arriving early afternoon to ORD via DCA and I had not previously considered asking them to interline. I didn't think they'd be willing to do so on two separate PNRs, and given I'd be there eight hours before departure I thought they'd be unwilling to hold luggage for that duration. I'll give it a go!
