I am tempted to purchase an AKL-LAX-PDX-SFO (AA/AA/AS) ticket with a 01H31M int'l-dom connection at LAX. The ticket is sold by AA and not through a TA. I know this connection is extremely tight, but this ticket is far cheaper than other options offered on Google.
I am considering biting, because I have had rather positive experience with NH and AC this year when I missed my protected connections due to delay. (Obviously NH wasn't the one that delayed, I should add.)
Am I right to think that:
(a) If I missconnect at LAX, I can ask the LAX counter to "straighten" my itinerary to AKL-LAX-SFO? Or,
(b) If a schedule change occurs (which is likely because the reservation would be for Jan 2024) and shortens my LAX connection below MCT, I will be able to "straighten" my itinerary to AKL-LAX-SFO without paying for the fare difference?
