10k points cost USD 130. Or less. With the current 30% promo it's USD 100. I think it may have been even lower with some of the previous 40/50% bonus promos this year.

Why risk a "favour*" that could potentially close and wipe your account for that amount? Or actually just for the "saving"? I can't imagine the friend of a friend did it for nothing.
