I couldn't get my Bose QC35s to pair UNTIL I used the Bose app on my phone. When I went through the app and told it to pair with a new device it found the airplane connection right away and I haven't had any problems since. I never could get it to work just by trying to get the seatback bluetooth to detect my headphones.
