It gets raised fairly frequently and this isn't anything new, it's been the situation since LHR T5 opened, due to the automation of the warehouse. Which means that the tag does nothing other than make people happy to have a tag and because sometimes they ask for a tag, getting upset if one is not provided. The note from BA - fairly detailed by their standards - confirms something that has long been a bug-bear of some here. The thing that matters is the barcode and the AKE bins are loaded by cabin.

On shorthaul it really should make very little difference, from first bag to last should be just a few minutes really. The current labour shortages is slowing things down but I can see that the stats are improving (slowly).
