We normally stay at the Park Hyatt and the Westin (we need two rooms) next door and were certainly not expecting anything on that scale. We have stayed at the Thompson once before in Playa del Carmen which we enjoyed and were hoping for something similar. I just returned from a 4 night stay on a cheap pre-paid cash rate ($150). We had 2 rooms which were both upgraded to a junior suite. Its a weird property. The hard product was nice enough though to me it seemed like a lux veneer hiding cheaper quality. The service was extremely mediocre. We received tickets for the globalist breakfast which included gratuities. No one ever brought a "check" so that was nice. I did leave an additional $15 tip one day which was not reflected on my final bill so that was appreciated. The breakfast itself was not good and the server had to be explained what a fried egg was or and didn't seem to know what the parfait on the menu actually was. Housekeeping was not great. One day they didn't get to our room til 7:30pm, they were just that behind. They forgot to give towels and one of our rooms had the mop left on the bathroom sink. Everything was ok for the rate and not terrible, but I won't be returning. We will be at The Cape in December and I am not worried about that one.
