Do flight numbers always use the same aircraft?

Hi, I am looking at flights from LHR -> MAD and I'd love you try the A350 business class with Iberia at some point, the flight number for the A350 instead of the usual A320's is IB3167. Is IB3167 the designation for the route, timeslot and aircraft or just for the route/slot? Is it safe to assume this flight number will always be an A350 regardless of the date flown?
