I was in 1L for an overnight and I must say the location wasn’t bad. The lav didn’t bother me and I was one of the first to eat. The problem is the seat width and the layout of the area. I felt like it was very confining and a bit like a coffin when laying down. I’m not huge. I wear L or XL shirts. In between. I couldn’t lay on my back without both shoulders touching the walls. It was terrible for the money. The 777 I guess is wider and maybe I don’t experience that with another Polaris seat. That said, I flew in 2L on an AA 789 and the 0.5” additional width and maybe the layout was much better. BA’s Club World seats were also much easier to sleep in. Plus, I really missed being able to close the “door” and feel a sense of privacy. I’ll be avoiding 781 from UA for Polaris seating.
The dinner (short ribs) were good. The food in ORD Polaris lounge was also good. They ran out of Pinot Noir very fast on the flight and some folks never got a chance at a glass. The egg breakfast thing was quite awful and the coffee was a pass. I wish planes would just put in a nespresso or something. It’s usually quite poor.
