I did this experiment with a friend with 1 seat remaining in a particular fare class. We both counted down to 1 and clicked at the same time.

My ticket purchase went through at the lower price.

His ticket purchase errored and when the screen was refreshed, he had to pay a higher fare (we split the difference in fare).
