This, over and over. Spend a some money to "save" a pittance on a product that is, at best, of marginal interest or utility? Not for me. (I recognize that others have different values and tastes, but I do wish that one of my cards would offer some targeted benefit that excited me.)
Or give a reasonable annual fee, and any benefit should be genuine.
Peloton - not a benefit
Digital Entertainment credit - is not a benefit
Lyft - not a benefit
Door Dash - not a benefit
Instacart - not a benefit
$200 or $300 for airline purchases - benefit
$200 or $300 for travel purchases - benefit
$200 or $300 for dining purchases - benefit
I especially hate any benefit that says you have to spend x each month. If you want it to be a benefit, then give me a lump sum to use throughout the year. Every customer does not live where there is Lyft, Door Dash, Instacart, Uber, etc... A majority of the cardholders cannot use these on a monthly basis. However, they could use travel credits at some point throughout the year in most cases.
