It could be that problems are arising for you if you have older versions of your browser &/or operating system. Personally I use the app for the majority of my searches/bookings and rarely have a problem. I only revert to the website if I need to make a booking at a special rate (Ambassador, Visa, Mastercard etc) and I must admit that I do find the website a bit clunky but generally it works.
