Chase UR Refund Issue....
So I booked a flight through Chase's travel portal. They also have the 24 hr cancellation policy. 11 hours later, I was trying to cancel and re-book for an earlier flight. Guess what!!! The dang travel portal is under system maintenance. Tried to access my itinerary to cancel, but I keep getting a pop up to call a travel specialist to help. I called and they said, they can't do anything since they can't access the itinerary because of the system maintenance. So I was pretty much SOL in trying to get it cancelled via the travel portal. I was able to cancel the flight directly with the airline. It was cancelled with the airline within 24 hours of that flight getting booked. I know I won't get a refund from them. I just cancelled it so that Chase can see that it was cancelled within 24 hours and that I had tried multiple times with Chase. I even sent Chase a secure message while I was still under the 24 hour timeline to let them know that I TRIED.
So finally after 8 hours or so, the system was back up. I gave the travel specialist all the details and hope that Chase travel would process my refund knowing that it was due to their part that I wasn't able to cancel through the portal. Keep in mind there was no banner or anything that says there will be system maintenance the day prior. They forwarded all the details to their back-end team and after almost TWO MONTHS, came back and told me that I didn't attempt to try and cancel the flight. What kind of BS is that? That literally pissed me off. The sup told me they'll put it in again and see if the back end team would give them the okay to process the refund.
I know the Chase travel portal is operated by a third party. Have you guys ever had an issue with this? I'm thinking of filing a dispute for the charge with Chase. If so what did you all do? If I file a dispute, I'm not even sure which to select. Maybe failure to receive services? I only booked through the portal for the bonus points with my Sapphire Reserved card. This issues makes me feel like it wasn't even worth it. TIA!
