The ticketing team work on a date priority basis so wont reissue sooner unfortunately if an agent calls them. As there is already a ticket for the outbound and if this is a BA flight for the inbound it isnt at risk.
Doesn't the security code automatically drop out of the BA system within approx 5 days, which I believe has been the problem many times before when punters have had these issues, including arriving at the airport and unable to fly. Good job that the OP is aware of the importance of seeing a ticket number with one's own eyes.
