I really don't get the fan-boy defense of BA. I could understand if they were positioning themselves as some sort of budget airline, selling the ticket for cheap, but cashing in on the "extras" such as seat selection and carry-on bags. Are they the Frontier Air of Europe? Forget this "blocked economy"; I pay less per flight hour for a true lie-flat business class seat pretty much anywhere I fly have never once paid an additional fee to select the seat.
But whatever... this is market here and it apparently tolerates this. I certainly had a choice here. Whatever the choices were, they sucked from a scheduling standpoint, so I can accept a high premium for the flight. But to get hit again with a seat charge?
Anyway, I didn't come for a fight about BA and I'm sorry I called them clowns because it clearly distracted from my question.
BA is every bit a low cost airline when it comes to short haul, its just that most of the people on here will crucify you for suggesting their beloved airline is not the one and only airline you should use. UK over the last 20 years has people who are just used to accepting sub par services for top dollar. What the carriers in Europe charge for short haul business and what you get is awful compared to Asian and M/Eastern airlines.
