Super helpful, thanks. It may well known to BA flyers, but as a BA virgin, I had no idea, and it doesn't warn about it on Amex Travel when booking.
This year I've flown business on Cathay, EVA. Qatar, Asana, Thai Airways, and Vietnam Air. None of them charged extra for seat selection. None of the USA domestics charge for seat selection for the front cabins. To even think there might be a charge for seat selection is absurd to anyone paying for premium cabin. Except, apparently, for BA. Anyway...
Getting back to my question, am I increasing my risk of being bumped on this airline if I don't pay extra to select my seat? (I have zero worries about being bumped from my premium cabin seat on any of the Asian airlines, but BA is obviously a different breed, so I'm trying to assess my risk.)
