Maui is effectively indefinitely closed for visitors at this time. I doubt it will be anywhere close to ready to accept you in October. Perhaps look at another island.

Kā'anapali has basically nothing of its own, and anyone in Kā’anapali either lived in nearby Lāhainā or those visiting there would go to Lāhainā for food etc. I don’t think Maui will be anywhere close to being ready to accept tourists for at least 6 months. There are over 10,000 locals without homes and over 1000 people are still unaccounted for. It’s beyond staggering.
