Personally, I pour myself another G&T in the lounge and board with the tail end of the scrum.

My seat doesn't disappear into thin air because I wasn't sat in it the millisecond the gate opened, and I don't have to endure 179 people's bags clumsily hitting me as they go past.

Unless BA introduce PDBs on short haul, I'll be sticking with this approach.
