I've totally given up on the Andaz 5th and its spartan design. The Thompson is fine, but not without its own flaws. I don't really care for Thompsons in general.
In my watching the thread we seem somewhat as a group divided between those who are fine with the hotels business behavior of pay to upgrade and those who aren't.
Suppose I fall more on your way of thinking however I do like Andaz 5 and find myself extremely happy with the wellness suite.
Understood its not everyone's style or idea of comfort and luxury.
Andaz 5 seems to genuinely care about upgrading Globes where possible and has a committed seasoned
GM that understands members expectations
My only concern with the hotel is the depressing breakfast room and the decline of food and beverage
compared to what it once was
I can't let go.I'm still happy to indulge with a stay there but still dream of a Park Hyatt NYC where recognition is so strong
the cost to pay or redeem become less important. That is what drove me to way over LT Globe historically.
Hotels like Andaz Maui and PH NYC etc have a choice to upgrade fairly or not
We can choose to vote with our wallets and our feet.
Still remain a Hyatt fan in the properties that still carry on brilliantly and grateful for it
