If it was indeed a thing they promised, and then they changed the rules, then yes that absolutely changes the math and could affect whether or not I rented an EV in the future.
Hertz didn't promise free charging. It was a glitch a few of us noticed and subsequently abused if the Tesla was close to the price of the cheapest ICE car. 2000 mile rental with the potential of getting away with free fuel from a glitch? Yeah sign me up. I'm still a couple of hundred ahead on fueling so we'll see how far they go back.
