AA staff at DEL is minimal. Never seen any AA people at Transfer or check in desks - always 3rd party contractor.
I would follow previous advise and have a valid visa to enter India
India is a wonderful nation, but sometimes common sense practice does not come into play regarding airports and air travel - IMO
3 hour connection time - should be sufficient, even if you have to clear customs (worst case)
