If you live in a hub like DEN or MCO I would think you'd have better luck with the GW availability. Out of ATL I haven't seen an awful lot, though I haven't bought the durned thing so it's mostly a case of noticing whether there has been anything displaying in that field when I'm doing other searches.

I can see GW possibly undermining other options like mileage awards and 5K/10K sales there. In checking from ATL to DEN, LAS and even shorter hauls with much competition like MIA and FLL right now it looks like they're not going below 10K each way for anything, though that can and should change. It's another edge-of-low-season waiting game. I've seen those before.

It does reinforce the point that the profitability is all in the invented mandatory fees and the optional ones, with the "airfare" only coming into play when demand is high enough to be able to hike that portion above $0.
