Also - unless you got the card through your employer's relationship and you're no longer employed there anymore, you should still be able to get one. Of course - they'd probably still make you pay the $10k.
Further back. Initially $1000/year - a lot then, now look at... well... many cards today.
I got it in the early-2000s when I was an expat.
It increased to $2500 in ~2008-2010, after I had gone back to the Platinum Card.
