There were and are significant issues at LHR Terminal 3 today, and BA passengers are known to be affected. There were also some more minor issues yesterday 8 August. Moreover there was a sprinkler trip at 5 am in Zone A and B, causing a partial evacuation, so it's been a bit of a trying few hours over there.

Today's problem started at about 11:30 hrs when the baggage system got so overloaded that there were multiple failures with routing - so bags entering the system didn't know where to go and get piled up in a dump zone. The last I head was that they have mainly sorted out the core issues, but there is both a backlog and some residual ongoing issues.

This will affect mainly passengers checking their bags in at LHR today at T3, but almost certainly will impact transfer bags too since staff are having to be deployed urgently out of normal working patterns.
