The case of the missing voucher that wasn’t

This might be helpful if anyone appears to be missing their companion voucher.

I got an email from Virgin Money Feb 2023 to say my companion voucher had been triggered and sent to flying club. However it never appeared in my account activity. I rang both FC and VM but they both blamed each other saying everything was fine on their respective sides. Eventually after getting nowhere I logged a complaint with FC that has lead to resolution:-

"This is a case of the voucher being credited too early. It happens sometimes when Virgin Money send a file around the credit card anniversary date.

Here, the anniversary date is the 6th Sep, and you can see a voucher was credited to the account on the 13th Sep 2022. The member had already received a voucher for this Sep 21-Sep 22 year in April 2022, as he did not spend £10,000 in the first week of his anniversary, he should not have received a voucher in Sep 2022.

The reason it was added at that time is that the file that Virgin Money sent still had his total spending for the year 2021-2022, but it was processed after his anniversary date.

Then when he actually qualified in Feb 2023, the voucher failed to trigger because there was already one on his account for the same year. Members can only get one voucher per year.”

So it wasn’t missing after all, just hiding! I never noticed the voucher arriving early.
