AS Offering Hawaii Inter-Island Connections

I guess this is the result of the "Ho-Hum" partnership with Mokulele Airlines/Southern Express Airways (kudos to all involved that it only took 6 months for any noticeable results). I'm starting to see options to connect through KOA or HNL on my OGG>PDX route. Fwiw, I've already been doing this myself using WN for the inter-island part. WN seems content to run 25% full planes between the Hawaiian Islands with daily $39 last-minute fares always available. Not sure why I'd opt to take my life in my hands on a Cessna 208 piloted by a 22-year old all while paying high baggage fees as opposed to WN. Truth be told, I've flown Mokulele to Lanai (no WN, AS, etc. service) and really enjoyed it but your average traveler is likely to be freaked out by the small plane.... and turned off by the baggage fees. I guess I'm just left wondering.... is this the sum total result of the grandiose partnership announcement?

Also, out of curiosity, I tried booking an inter-island only flight through AS from OGG>HNL and got the standard error message: "This route is not serviced by Alaska Airlines or any of our partners." Hmm.... hard to believe. I hope Mokulele/Southern Airways didn't pay AS much for all this business they were undoubtedly promised.
