I've stayed here four times now.
Elite recognition has gotten better and better in my experience. The first two times, there was nothing at the reception (but a written message in the room). But those times were when they had just opened. The third time, I was offered free breakfast even though I already had it included in the room rate. The last time, I received free breakfast and the choice between points or a food and beverage credit. Out of 4 stays, I was upgraded 2 times.
I have been in a suite once and once in a somewhat larger normal room. They were a bit dark. The smaller regular rooms actually appealed to me more and are beautiful.
Breakfast has now become a buffet with only plant-based options (although lactose is listed in the allergens of most bread options) instead of a fully vegan a la carte offer that was there before. There is an active offer to serve cheese and slices of meat. Eggs with bacon can be ordered via the menu, with the result that the entire restaurant smells of bacon.
Personally, I think it's a shame that they're abandoning the completely vegan concept. I'm always a bit bummed about the unhealthy breakfast options in many hotels, and it was very innovative what was offered. But if you partly get rid of it, bacon is a somewhat strange choice in view of the smell and religious guests. Every time I've been, more concessions have been made on the vegan offerings; I don't think they're going to keep it up.
I had a tour of the building and the Handelsbeurs next door the first time I stayed. It was quiet in the restaurant and the waiter took us on a tour of the entire building.
