United used to have a page that clearly stated you could fly standby on a BE ticket but they’ve since scrubbed nearly all mention of this allowance from their site. YMMV, of course - let us know how it goes!
Oh that’s interesting. They still have it mentioned in their
FAQ here, which is how I found it (although it was buried):
I will report back how things go! If the standby go through, that’ll be a bonus, but I wouldn’t be too bummed with waiting a little longer than expected.
