I had to speak to support and book over the phone to finally make sure the reservation wasn't paid for.
Yes, the PNR is created before payment and will temporarily show under your bookings. It will disappear on its own if you do nothing...can't recall how long but not too long. You know that you haven't paid for the booking as the status shows "reserved" rather than "confirmed" (nor is there a receipt/eTicket issued).
