The short answer is that ITA integration into ST is poor, but AF/KL provide most benefits even though there are some hoops to jump through. I suggest reading the big threads (there aren't many, no worries) on the ITA subforum for more info on what works and what doesn't. The status through ITA won't be recognized during OLCI AFAIK.
