So after the one-time Concorde flights LHR-BOS on October 8 and LHR-IAD on October 14, will Concorde be ferried back to JFK to resume scheduled service? And will BA sell seats on those very short subsonic segments a la the Toronto trip?
A quick interrogation of the BA timetable shows:-
01OCT BA93 LHR-YYZ 1610-1530
02OCT BA97 YYZ-JFK 1800-1955
03OCT BA4 JFK-LHR 1300-2200
------
08OCT BA1215 LHR-BOS 1630-1520
10OCT BA4 JFK-LHR 1300-2200
------
14OCT BA1223 LHR-IAD 1630-1530
16OCT BA4 JFK-LHR 1300-2200
The BA4s seem to be at least theoretically open for public booking - there is availability on 3 October - so this is a last chance for that even-rarer-than-BA1 flight number for anyone inclined to collect flight numbers.
A bit of speculation - might BA use the aircraft (incl the ferry flights) for some VIP work, PR (static) displays or as staff rewards? As we know, the 48 hour intervals between landing at BOS/IAD and departure from JFK are more than necessary for crew rest.
