If you are talking about 2-3-4 hours, do not expect anything. Due to weather, FAA and UA operations issues, UA has had a dismal moth of July on the east coast (many, many much longer delays) and complaints / customer service department is likely overwhelmed.
If you read the op their issue was not due to weather. If customer care cannot respond to issues as this, even to say there is nothing we can do, then there should not be a customer care line. Why apologize for poor airline customer service?
