Concorde makes final North American stops

WASHINGTON, Aug. 18 (UPI) -- British Airways announced Monday it has selected three North American cities to receive a special farewell visit from Concorde.

The supersonic aircraft will make a scheduled flight from London to Dulles International Airport on Tuesday, Oct. 14, just 10 days before it retires from commercial service.

David Noyes, BA's executive vice president for North America, said: "For more than 40 years, Washingtonians have been strong supporters of British Airways. And British Airways is very proud to be able to fly Concorde into Dulles one last time before its retirement on Oct. 24th."

In fact, it was at Dulles Airport in May 1976 when Concorde first began commercial service between the United States and Britain.

Of British Airways' 23 gateways in North America, only Washington, D.C., Boston and Toronto will receive farewell visits from the supersonic flagship.
