But did you hear about the OTHER joke? The one about the Member rates and Standard rates at these hotels? Here is something fun to look at, and everyone can come to their own conclusion if we negotiated well or not!
I mean it, those are really high corporate rates for those weeks. Some are more than 3 times what we have in our system, most are double or more.
None of these hotels are worth the standard rates that they charge in those periods. Granted you may not always be in a position to have a choice, which is what they are cashing in on. But even gold is not always worth the price asked.
Yes, Tokyo pricing are just absurd these days. The general problem for a long while was the lack of staff, so they could not sell all rooms, and they compensated the lost revenue by charging more. I don't know if by now they just realised they can charge that much, or if the staffing issues persists?
