WASHINGTON, Aug. 18 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- British Airways has selected Washington, DC as one of only three North American cities to receive a special farewell visit from Concorde.
The aircraft will make a scheduled supersonic flight from London to Dulles International Airport on Tuesday, Oct. 14, just ten days before it retires from commercial service.
"This last once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to fly Concorde, directly to Dulles Airport, is a wonderful way for British Airways to say thank you to the people of the Northern Virginia, Maryland and District area and to celebrate Concorde's heritage," said David Noyes, executive vice president, North America.

Of British Airways' 23 gateways in North America, only Washington, DC, Boston and Toronto, Boston and, Washington will receive farewell visits from the supersonic flagship. While these special Concorde flights and fares will be available worldwide, only bookings in North America will be taken in the first five days of the sale by calling 1 800 224-0500 or contacting a local area travel agent.
For the Concorde farewell flight to Washington, British Airways is offering transatlantic round-trip fares on a first come-first serve basis for flights to London on one of British Airways' three daily flights from Dulles with supersonic return on Concorde to Washington on Tuesday, October 14.
The Concorde Celebration Fare for travel to and from London on October 14 is:
one way in Club World, return on Concorde BA1223 for $7,999. -- one way in First Class, return on Concorde BA1223 for $8,999.
The flight time from London to Dulles will take just four hours and 20 minutes. Concorde will depart London-Heathrow at 4.10 p.m. (local London time) and arrive at Dulles at 3.30 p.m.
For travellers who cannot take advantage of the Concorde Celebration Fare, British Airways is also offering a special thank you also offering a special with great sale values for seat sale in World Traveller for leisure travelers wishing to visit the UK travel this fall from Dulles to London.
British Airways will launch the sale today August 19 through Thursday, midnight EDT, Aug. 21 with roundtrip airfares of $308 to London from Dulles Airport for travel from Aug. 26 through Oct. 29. A savings of $10 on the roundtrip airfare is available when passengers log in and book online at
www.britishairways.com/falleurope.
The $308 fare is available for midweek travel (Monday-Thursday). A weekend (Friday-Sunday) surcharge of $30 applies for travel in each direction.
Tickets must be purchased seven days in advance of departure with a minimum stay of one Saturday night and a maximum stay of nine months. The tickets are non-refundable and refunds from previously purchased fare types are not permitted. Additional significant restrictions apply. Fares are subject to availability and government approval and do not include government fees and taxes ranging from approximately $76 to $122.
