Sometimes my airline choice is swayed by booze. I have no issue admitting that.

If I have the opportunity to fly F and EK are on the list, you better believe I'm thinking about the wine list when I make that choice. I would never spend £700 on a bottle of 2001 Ch Mouton Rothschild - but I'm more than happy to let them serve it to me.

Then sometimes booze is a really handy tool for resetting my body clock. Getting on a LHR-SIN flight at 20:30 I'm going to watch a film, have dinner, few drinks, and bed. However when I wake in the morning it's 17:00 in SIN and I've got a SIN-SYD at 20:00 which lands at 05:45 local time - I know I need to sleep on that second flight even though my body is telling me it's morning. So... off to the bar.

And sometimes, it's just because no great story ever started with the words "Right, hold my salad..."
