Agreed, especially when the bus isn’t waiting. It often feels that they were not expecting you and that the flight has mysteriously appeared from another time! I have been parked in T5 and bussed to T3 taking 45 minutes. But it’s not a particularly long delay apparently!

Its not about running of of gates. It’s about planning, operational integrity, and having the resources available to move aircraft around your home base.
I fully accept that T5 is constrained both geographically and operationally but it’s the only terminal where the operating airline runs stand allocation! And frankly very badly indeed!
Moreover, I can’t recall ever arriving on a foreign carrier and being bussed at LHR in T2 or T3. Not suggesting it doesn’t happen but it has never happened to me.
