It would seem odd to limit access (especially on the Reserve card) given how Delta has continuously tried to devalue the actual individual membership and funnel people to the Reserve card.

In addition, I don't think (ironically enough) it would make that much of a difference to overcrowding. Those who are going very frequently are probably mostly fast in and out guests. I no longer have the Reserve card (cancelled it during COVID), but my average lounge stay was like 15 minutes. All this means is that people will skip "short" visits and prioritize "long" visits.. those that most drive overcrowding. One person for 3 hours is equal to 12 of my visits.

Although I am glad I saw this post... I was thinking about getting a Reserve card again next year, but will hold off until the news solidifies.

My guess is there is some truth to this rumor, but it is true for the Plat card only. It ties to American Express expanding their lounge network (both owned and partnered) excluding Delta, and matches to the Delta partnership strategy of trying to grow the Delta Reserve base.
