It was AY operated. They did ask me what my
incoming flight was, but I'm not sure what the relevance of that was.

For some reason QR really doles out the qpoints for AA flights, irregardless of the metal. I’ve had JL operated AA marketed flights give me more than double the qpoints (for the same exact fare) than if it were a JL marketed flights. You’ll also get significantly more Qpoints for QR flights that are marketed by AA too.
I got what seemed to me a surprisingly high number of QPoints for some US-domestic AA flights a few months ago. In fact, had QR actually honoured the double-QPoint promotion advertised earlier this year (instead of giving me double Avios instead), I'd already have requalified for platinum this year, with five months still to go - doesn't usually happen for me.
