ANA doesn’t do discounted paid day-of upgrades to business. If you want to use cash to upgrade, you rebook into business class as if buying a new ticket, which I suppose you could do the same day. If you want to use miles, you use the waitlist like everyone else (assuming you’re booked in an upgradeable booking class).

Edit: also note ANA will fly with business class seats open, even if there are people on waitlists.
