That’s not quite right. It depends what channel you’re booking through. My understanding is:
- BA cash bookings online: always use POS of departure point (and similarly, use currency of departure too)
- BA cash bookings on phone: generally use POS of the telephone number you called, but not sure if exceptions to that
- BAEC avios bookings: use POS of the country your BAEC account is registered in
